Rosehip oil is a vegetable oil obtained from the thorny bush
known as musk rose. More precisely, the seeds of the fruits (rose hips)
produced by the flower of this tree are "shaggy achenes". Originally
from Europe, this rose, grown mainly in the plains of Chile, was introduced in
the 16th century by the Spanish conquerors. Today the country is the world's
leading supplier. And it is from these seeds, collected in March and April,
that vegetable oil is obtained by cold pressing. In addition, “to produce 1 kg
of oil, 50 kg of seeds or 300 kg of fruit are needed,” explains Nathalie
Valasek, director of supply for cosmetics at Léa Nature. Together we evaluate
the benefits of this precious oil for the face and body.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF PINK MOSKET OIL FOR SKIN?
For face
Rosehip oil is ideal for nourishing dry and sensitive skin
and for treating atopic skin. Thanks to the content of essential fatty acids
(omega 3, 6 and 9), this vegetable oil has exceptional regenerating, restoring
and restructuring properties. In addition, its richness in vitamin E and
beta-carotene also gives it emollient, antioxidant, and anti-aging properties.
Thus, it slows down the premature appearance of wrinkles, blemishes and other
signs of skin aging and also helps to reduce their appearance.
For body
Thanks to its properties mentioned above, rosehip oil helps
to heal and reduce the appearance of invisible scars and stretch marks. In
addition, it is known for its regenerating properties for the skin after
sunburn or on dry areas from the cold.
HOW TO CHOOSE ROSE MOSQUETA VEGETABLE OIL?
First of all, it is important to distinguish rosehip
vegetable oil from its oil maceration (obtained by macerating flowers in
vegetable oil). The same happens with hydrosol or rose water (obtained by
distilling the flowers of a rose, another type of rose hips, which, for its
part, does not produce seeds). The benefits are different.
To choose it correctly, the expert advises to refer to the
INCI name of three types of musk roses: "rosa rubiginosa"; "Rosa
canina" and "rose of a moscata". One of these words should
appear on the bottle. Other criteria? It is advisable to have a cold pressed
and organic certification.
HOW TO USE ROSE MOSQUETA VEGETABLE OIL CORRECTLY?
It is very easy to add rosehip oil to your daily cosmetic
life. According to the expert, "You can apply a drop of this vegetable oil
as a targeted product directly to your face to reduce the appearance of
wrinkles, moisturize and revitalize tired skin." An excellent anti-aging
elixir with an oleic texture, this elixir can also be used as a serum in our
day or night creams.
Rosehip oil can be used in body massage oil to help reduce stretch marks and other scars. It can take the form of a revitalizing balm after sun exposure or when temperatures are too low. It can also be mixed with other vegetable oils with which it works in synergy: sweet almond oil, apricot oil, avocado oil, jojoba oil ... All are known for their softening and regenerating properties similar to olive oil.
