which hair removal method to choose?

 HAIR REMOVAL WITH THREAD

Also called Indian, Turkish or Lebanese hair removal, thread hair removal is an ancestral technique which consists "of trapping the hairs between two cotton threads in order to pull them out with their bulb", explains Johanna Alini, founder of "Jardins de Nana" . For an irreproachable result and a hair that does not break, you must necessarily turn to a professional graduate.

Most ? This 100% natural technique can be practiced on all types of hair (even the shortest) and skin types. The risk of burns and irritation is zero. The best ? It is no more painful than any other method. In addition to observing slower regrowth, there is also very little ingrown hairs .

The lessers ? This method is suitable for different areas of the face such as eyebrow waxing , chin, cheeks, or even the lips, better known as mustache waxing . For other parts of the body, which are much more extensive, such epilation may be tedious. Finally, it is not within everyone's reach. No more attempts at home, we go to the institute.

RAZOR HAIR REMOVAL

In the hair removal department, the razor, this small tool with a sharp blade that allows you to remove hair in no time, is no longer to present.

Most ? Ultra-fast, razor hair removal is an ideal option when you're in a hurry. In 5 minutes, in the shower or not, we find smooth skin on the legs, armpits and even the bikini line.

The lessers ? Not pulling the hair at the root, the razor (with its cutting action) does not promise the most durable hair removal. One to two days and the hairs resurface. In addition, some blades, used daily, can have an irritating action on the skin.

DEPILATORY CREAM

The depilatory cream does not pull out the hair but "weakens it on the surface thanks to the action of chemical components which directly attack the structure of the hair, the keratin", explains Élise Malodobry, Loua and Laurence Dumont brand manager. In a few minutes, the hair softens and falls out.

Most ? Unlike other hair removal techniques, depilatory cream is one of the least painful (along with the razor which cuts the hair). It therefore appeals to the most cozy and especially those in a hurry. Plus, this super-fast alternative is suitable for all areas of the body (even the mustache, yes). Very accessible, it is ideal for small budgets.

The lessers ? Attacking only the hairs on the surface, the depilatory cream does not tear off the root like wax and electric epilators. In fact, the results are shorter: it takes about 5 to 7 days of peace. Not huge, but better than a razor after all! In addition, the depilatory cream can dry out the skin. We choose it enriched with shea butter or sweet almond oil for more comfort.

ELECTRIC EPILATORS

The principle of the electric epilator is to pull out the hair to be removed at the root. Legs, bikini line, armpits, face… It is suitable for all areas.

Most ? More efficient than a razor and faster than wax, the electric epilator - very easy to use - stands out as an excellent alternative at home. In addition to plucking the hairs at the root (even the shortest), it refines them as and when passes. No more coarse regrowth. The result is visible between 2 and 3 weeks.

The lessers ? This technique is quite painful… especially when it comes to waxing the bikini line ! In addition, it can promote the appearance of ingrown hairs. As for its cost, it can climb (as quickly as it will pay for itself) depending on the options offered.
